Faculty of Sciences is one of the
FCUL offers 16 undergraduate programmes, conferring a 1st cycle degree, 15 2nd cycle degrees and two Integrated MSc programmes. In research, with more than two hundred on-going projects, research activities at the Faculty of Sciences are carried out in 30 Laboratories and Research Centres or Institutes embracing a variety of domains in Science and Technology. Many of these R&D activities are carried out in collaboration with international teams and are funded both at national and at European levels. Research activities are undertaken mainly in the following scientific fields: Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, and Operations Research, Physics, Chemistry and Biochemistry, Geology, Geophysics, and Astronomy, Biology, Computer Science and Informatics and Philosophy and History of Sciences.
Projects with a large experimental component.
PhD in Image processing in Université Paul Sabatier (Toulouse, france) in 1992, worked with all kind of images - from remote sensed SPOT and Landsat to electronic microscopy images, always in a user drive perspective: extraction of information. Algorithm design and implementation. Experience with GIS for extraction of spatial statistics and inference analysis from biological field data.
