SKEP acts as a platform for communication and integration, linking challenged youth together with students from both mainstream schools and universities.
The Association of Social Responsibility for Children and Youth - SKEP is a nonprofit organization established in 2008, in Athens. Our mission is to:
• Deconstruct Stereotypes of prejudice, bias, indifference and social exclusion
• Reshape Attitudes towards disability by Educating students through experiential learning, motivational campaigns in schools and joint art activities.
• Engage mainstream students by developing “reflexes” and perceptions of social / collective responsibility
• Voice the opinion and feelings of challenged youth
SKEP links together challenged youth with students from mainstream schools by implementing experiential – interactive educational programs in order to increase awareness, coexistence and socialization.
We would be interested in associations and organizations focusing on issues concerning disability, active social inclusion, children and youth, equal opportunities, and volunteerism.
We are also looking for partners that could provide us with know - how, good practices and innovative ideas.
Networking, exchange and sharing of knowledge and experience are particularly of interest.
SKEP is the only Association in Greece that acts as a platform for communication and integration, linking challenged youth (physical, sensory, intellectual, social and mental disabilities from special education schools and institutions) together with young people from general population, schools and universities.
Up to the present day, we have collaborated with more than 250 special schools, institutions and mainstream schools (from all over Greece) and brought together 20.000 students and youth with disabilities.
Our expertise lies in our innovative methodology, namely implementing experiential – interactive, non – formal educational programs in order to increase awareness, coexistence and socialization.
