Studieforbundet Folkeuniversitetet (FU) is Norway's largest organiser of adult education, and each year approximately 100 000 participants sign up for one or more of the 13 000 courses offered.
The organization has close to 60 years' experience in the fields of practical and theoretical trade-related education, teaching of foreign languages and courses in cultural and leisure activities. The main aim has always been to make leisure courses and further education available and accessible to all adults, regardless of social or ethnic background.
FU's 18 member organisations, 9 regional offices and 90 local departments provide courses in more than 300 of the country's municipalities. The courses can be attended by everybody, including adults who have not yet completed an approved course of study. Such approved courses of study are also offered by the FU. The local departments offer in-service training as well as part-time courses.
Over the past years, FU has taken part in several international projects, both as a contractor and a partner, and has thus gained considerable experience in the field of project-related work on an international basis.
