Save the Children is a world wide alliance working with and for children in more than 120 countries across the globe and comprising 28 member organizations.
The UN Convention on the Rights of the Child provides the values, vision and overarching goal for our work. We aim to find solutions to fundamental violations of childrens rights in order to achieve lasting change for a large number of children. Our primary goal is achieving results for children in terms of the fulfillment of their rights. Lasting change is dependent on building local capacity and, in certain situations; increased capacity for partner organizations is in itself a goal.
Save the Children Norway (SCN) works to promote and implement childrens rights through long-term programmes as well as through humanitarian response. A priority area for us in Europe is inclusion and strengthening the rights of minority groups, particularly Roma. To achieve our goals we have five thematic priorities:
- Child Rights Governance
- Basic Education
- Children Affected by Emergencies
- Protection against Violence and Abuse
- HIV and AIDS
Save the Children Norway is a member based organization with over 7200 members across Norway. These members are organized throughout the regions and contribute to the activities in our domestic programme, and our youth organization PRESS.
